...this is the postal service in my own little world. :3 I'm definitely going to reuse this character and idea...maybe just build up my own little fantasy world...keeping all the other chars I've done in it....kinda makes you wonder what the paper boy rides, huh?

Mmm...done...if you didn't read my journal, this was delayed because PS crashed while I was working on it and I lost about three hours of work...it took me a day to whip myself into shape enough to re-finish it.

There may be some leftover mistakes...I'm not sure...I hope not...I'm not touching this anymore.
I want you guys to critique this, but at least keep in mind that it is my first time painting something this large...and in photoshop too. So have some mercy? But overall, if you see something, let me know, I don't want to miss anything that I can learn from this. I think I'd especially like critiques on lighting, painting technique, and maybe tips on how to make my clouds look better? X)

I know there were some initial errors about tones...like the girl was too brightly colored for the whale so she popped off it at first...hope I fixed that mostly.

Having said that, I think I already have learned a lot on this...first off, paiting, learned about that...uhm...clouds? God, how I love the cumulus...so beautiful...so fluffy...I think I screwed it up in spots though. But anyways, this just sets me up to do a lot better next time I think. I'm genuinely pleased with this, because it's my first big painting, with scenery, and also because I really followed through in doing it.

I know people sometimes do this...show detail shots of their paintings...so I decided, why not...here's a crop of the full sized image. [link]

Ooh, special thanks for everyone who gave me more ideas, even if I didn't use them this time, doesn't mean I didn't like them, I'm just didn't think they'd do well in this particular picture. If I didn't use your idea here, I'll try to in the future. You guys are fantastic, and you all have my deepest gratitude. I'm really glad you take the time to comment actual comments on my work.
So thanks too (in no order)~

That is just adorable!

I love whales and I think that is so original.

AIEE! I was mentioned by someone so talented!?!?!?! :faint:

But yesh, there isn't much I can say about this piece (other than tis wunderbar); the clouds are really bright, but showing such dark shadows helps with that. I guess...the only thing I would say is to add more clouds in the background, but that's only a minor thing. Oh hey! Umm, see the furthest whale away? The shadow's against the smaller cloud, but the whale's in front of the larger...cloud loop thing. ^^; Does that make sense? If those dimensions are right, then I think the larger cloud should have a darker shadow, but meh. Whatever. '3'

Oh, and on that middle-sized whale...is that a peanut?
